Greg, How Are You?

Quiet Love

Just because I don’t write to you does not mean that I do not love you.

I do love you.

Ground Hog Day

I’m sticking my head out again, looking around.  Why, it’s not cold at all!   Yet, I am drawn back to the warmth of the den.

Really, I’m fighting the urge to stay burrowed.  The forces of comfort and quiet seeking perplex me.  When I broadcast less, I get to explain more in person, over and over.  But efficiency is not the force de jour.

The short bit — I’ve been out of work about five months and I don’t recognize myself.  My hair and beard are back.  My appetite is low.  I have a third ‘infection’, a tumor under my left collar bone near my midline.  Treatment should ensue next month.

Living in not-misery can not compare to joy.

We are faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. The ‘tide in the affairs of men’ does not remain at the flood; it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is deaf to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: ‘Too late.’  — MLK
